Ziplining in Türkiye: A Practical Guide
Ziplining has become one of the most popular soft-adventure activities in Türkiye. You glide along a steel cable from one point to another, high above a valley, river or forest, held safely in a harness. Did you know that a zipline needs no engine at all? Gravity does all the work, thanks to the slight downhill angle of the cable.
How a Zipline Works
A pulley called a trolley runs along the cable and is connected to your harness. The start platform is higher than the finish, so you gain speed as you go. At the end, a braking system slows you down before you reach the landing platform. On longer lines, staff at the finish manage the braking for you.
Single line or canopy tour?
Some sites have one long line with a big view; others link several shorter lines between platforms in the trees, which is called a canopy tour.
Who Can Do It?
Most ziplines are suitable for children and adults, but every operator sets minimum and maximum weight limits so the speed and braking stay within safe limits. People with heart problems, recent surgery or pregnancy should not take part.
What to wear
- Closed shoes that will not fall off
- Comfortable clothes that allow you to sit in a harness
- Long hair tied back and loose items left in a locker or bag
Where to Zipline in Türkiye
Ziplines can now be found in nature parks around Istanbul, on the highland plateaus of the Black Sea region and in many adventure centres along the Mediterranean coast. The best rides cross a river or valley, so you see the landscape from above.
Ziplining near Antalya
Near Köprülü Canyon in Manavgat, a zipline ride is part of several combo tours, such as rafting with zipline or the Super Combo with jeep safari and buggy. It is an easy way to add a short burst of adrenaline to a day on the river.
