White Water Rafting on the Köprülü River
A scenic limestone gorge
The Köprülü River rises high in the Taurus Mountains and cuts through a deep limestone gorge before reaching the sea near Manavgat. Roman stone bridges, pine forest and sheer cliffs line its banks, and our route follows the most scenic section.
The rapids are lively but never extreme, so you enjoy real white water without needing any experience.
Life on the raft
You share the raft with other guests and a guide who sits at the back, steers and calls the paddle strokes. On calmer stretches the guide invites everyone to jump in and float in their life jackets.
The water stays cold even in August, which is a welcome relief on a hot summer day.
Who can take part?
Anyone who can sit in a boat and follow simple instructions. Couples, groups of friends, older travellers and families with children from age three all join, and you do not need to be a swimmer because the life jacket keeps you afloat.
Exploring Köprülü Canyon National Park
The canyon became a national park in 1973, and it rewards a look around. Its name means "canyon with a bridge", after the single-arch Roman Oluk Bridge that has spanned the gorge for almost two thousand years and is still in use.
High above the river lie the ruins of Selge, an ancient Pisidian city with a theatre carved into the hillside. The slopes hold one of the largest natural cypress forests in the Mediterranean, and small trout restaurants line the river near Beşkonak.
That mix of nature and history is what sets rafting here apart from a water park: you are moving through a real landscape, not an artificial channel.
Rafting Tips from Our Guides
- Sit on the side tube of the raft and wedge your feet under the tube in front to stay stable on the rapids
- Keep one hand on the T-grip of your paddle; it protects your neighbour and gives you more power
- Apply waterproof sun cream before leaving the hotel, as the sun reflects strongly off the water
- If you fall in, float on your back with your feet forward and wait for the guide's rope
- Pack a second pair of dry shoes for lunch and the drive home

Payment and Cancellation
With hotel transfer, you pay a deposit for one person when booking and the rest on the day. Without transfer, the full amount is paid at the canyon, in cash or by card, and you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the tour.

Köprülü Canyon Rafting: Frequently Asked Questions
How long do you spend on the river?
Plan for around 2–3 hours on the water, including swimming stops. With transfer, briefing and lunch, the trip takes most of the day.
Can I bring my phone or camera?
Only in a waterproof case. Most guests leave their phone on the bus or at the hotel.
What happens if it rains?
Rafting goes ahead in light rain, since you get wet anyway. If the weather or water level makes it unsafe, the tour is cancelled and we arrange another day with you.
Is this the same as Manavgat or Beşkonak rafting?
Yes. Köprülü Canyon lies in the Manavgat district and the rafting base is near Beşkonak village, so you will see all three names used.
