Köprülü Canyon Rafting Tour: How the Day Unfolds

Knowing what happens and when makes a first rafting trip much more enjoyable. Below is the typical rhythm of a Köprülü Canyon rafting tour, from the moment the minibus reaches your hotel to the drive back in the late afternoon. Times shift a little with the season and your hotel area.

Rafting boats paddling through rapids on a mountain river

Late morningAbout 14 km on the Köprüçay River with swim stops

AfternoonFree time, then the return drive

Before You Get in the Boat

At the base each guest receives a life jacket, helmet and paddle sized to fit. Your guide then explains the paddle commands, how to sit, and what to do if someone falls in. The briefing takes about fifteen minutes and is the most important part of the day. Non-swimmers are welcome because everyone wears a life jacket, and children can join with an adult.

On the River

The Köprüçay is cold and clear, fed by springs in the Taurus Mountains. Rapids on this stretch are rated class 2 to 3, lively enough for fun but manageable for beginners. Between them come calm sections where guides stop the boats so you can swim or jump from the rocks.

Photos and Valuables

Leave phones and wallets in the locker. A photographer follows the boats, and pictures can be bought after lunch.

Lunch and the Way Back

After the river comes lunch beside the water, usually grilled chicken or fish with salad and rice. There is time to dry off and relax before the bus leaves.
