About the Tour
The Köprülü River starts high in the Taurus Mountains and runs through a deep limestone gorge before it reaches the sea near Manavgat. Along the way it passes Roman stone bridges, pine forest and steep cliffs, which is why the area became a national park. Our rafting route follows the most scenic part of the river. The rapids are lively but never extreme, so you get the fun of white water without needing any experience.
You share a raft with other guests and a guide who sits at the back, steers and calls the paddle strokes. Between the rapids the river slows down, and the guide will invite you to jump in and float in your life jacket. The water is cold even in August, which feels wonderful on a hot day.
Is it suitable for me?
Yes, if you can sit in a boat and follow simple instructions. Couples, groups of friends, older guests and families with children from age 3 all take part. You do not need to be able to swim, because the life jacket keeps you afloat.
Köprülü Canyon National Park
The canyon was declared a national park in 1973, and it is worth looking around while you are there. The name means "canyon with a bridge" and comes from the Oluk Bridge, a single-arch Roman bridge that has crossed the gorge for almost two thousand years and is still in use. High above the river lie the ruins of Selge, an ancient Pisidian city with a theatre carved into the hillside. The slopes are covered with one of the largest natural cypress forests in the Mediterranean, and small trout restaurants line the riverbank near Beşkonak.
This mix of nature and history is what makes rafting here different from a water park: you are moving through a real landscape, not an artificial track.
Tips From Our Guides
- Sit on the side of the raft, not inside it. Wedge your feet under the tube in front of you and you will stay in the boat on the rapids.
- Keep one hand on the T-grip of your paddle. It protects your neighbour's face and gives you more power.
- Use waterproof sun cream and put it on before you leave the hotel. The sun on the water is stronger than on the beach.
- If you fall in, float on your back with your feet forward and wait for the guide's rope. It happens rarely and is usually the funniest story of the day.
- Bring a second pair of dry shoes for lunch and the ride home.

FAQ
How long is the rafting on the river?
Plan for about 2–3 hours on the water, including swimming stops. With transfer, safety briefing and lunch, the whole trip takes most of the day.
Can I take my phone or camera?
Only in a waterproof case. Most guests leave their phone in the bus or at the hotel.
What happens if it rains?
Rafting goes ahead in light rain, since you get wet anyway. If the weather or water level makes rafting unsafe, the tour does not run and we will arrange another day with you.
Is this the same as Manavgat or Beşkonak rafting?
Yes. Köprülü Canyon is in the Manavgat district, and the rafting base is near the village of Beşkonak, so you will see all three names.
