Oyma Pinar Dam Ancient Etenna
Oymapinar Dam Location And History
It is located approximately 17 km north of Manavgat district of Antalya. This town, known as Homa in ancient history, is located on the road from the Taurus Mountains to the Dumanlı district,
known as Fatmalar Mountain by the local people, which is the main source of Antalya's Manavgat River. The first settlement of people in the region dates back to 1820 BC according to historical research. The region was occupied by Attalius, known as the famous Lydian King in history, by the Romans in the II and III centuries BC, and by the Seljuks and Ottomans in the following centuries, respectively, and has come to this day. In the ancient city of Homa, which meets the water needs of almost all of the Side district of Antalya, it is possible to find traces of ruins in 6 places that carry water from Dumanli to Side with aqueducts (Roman arches). It is a marvellous town visited by local and foreign tourists where these historical ruins that carry water are still standing defiantly against time. On the right side of the Oymapınar Dam entrance gate, the forty-eye aqueducts, which are still standing firmly today, are among our recommendations as Antalya Adventures, which is a historical area that should be seen and attract the attention of everyone.
Koprulu canyon, known as the rafting region of our country, is located in the middle of the historical area, and we strongly recommend that you include it among your must-see places. It offers great advantages to the local people due to its proximity to the town of Beskonak.
As it is known, Lake Oymapınar is an impressive natural wonder hidden behind the dam on the Manavgat River, which has an important place among the natural beauties of Antalya.
In order to witness the beauties you have not seen in your Antalya holiday plans, Oymapınar Lake should definitely be on your trip list and should be seen and visited. You can find mountain trekking trips, boat yacht tours and rafting canyoning in crazy sparkling waters. As Antalya Adventures, we believe that you will have a pleasant time and we think that there will be many details that will gain your admiration on your lake trip. When you dive into the magnificent view, you will see that the sum of small details creates this marvellous view. Although there are not many facilities and picnic areas at Oymapınar Dam, you can make accommodation with advance reservation. After your trip to Lake Oymapınar in Antalya; You can put the Manavgat River, Simena Castle, Beldibi Cave, Oluk Kopru and Demre Kus Sanctuary in your travel plans.
ANCIENT ETENNA
Etenna, located 29.km north of Manavgat, one of the most beautiful districts of Antalya, is a historical place built on steep hills above the Sırt Village, known by the name of the locals. The city named Acropal, which has been well preserved until today, is located on the slopes of the city where it served as a Bishopric during the Byzantine period. Its upper hill is surrounded by water. On the south side of the city is the Herron (a tomb for a glorified great dead). As the Great Leader Ataturk said, "There is no doubt that Antalya is the most beautiful city in the world". He did not say it in vain.
