Rafting History
Rafting History
Rafting has a very interesting and exciting history. Rafting, which means "raft" in Turkish, emerged as a means of transport used for freight transport in Central America in 1910. Rafting,
which attracted the attention of other countries by transporting ammunition on rivers during the Second World War, has become a sports branch in high flow rivers with the use of inflatable boats in time. Rafting aims to guide the people in it with the help of oars to pass through rocks and obstacles.
An important turning point in the history of rafting was realised in 1973 by a team formed for exploration purposes. In 1982, Sobek Expedition was the first foreign team that crossed the Çoruh River with rafting boats for the first time in our country. These discoveries and developments contributed to the spread and popularisation of rafting. Today, rafting continues to be an exciting activity for adventure seekers.
Rafting Today
Rafting is an exciting water sport on a river. Firstly, a group is formed for rafting and this group is accompanied by a guide. Appropriate equipment for rafting is provided and safety training is given. When the rafting boat is boarded, each participant must guide the boat by hitting the water with an oar.
During rafting, it is important to paddle against the current and manoeuvre according to the speed and flow of the water. With the guidance of the guide, you are taught how to behave in dangerous areas. During rafting, there is an opportunity to discover the beauties of nature as well as fun and excitement.
When rafting, safety should always be prioritised and the guide's instructions should be followed. This exciting experience usually attracts the attention of sports and nature enthusiasts and becomes a pleasant activity when done in a group.
